How Does the PADI Scuba Certification Work?
1. Learn the Theory:
You start by learning scuba diving principles and terminology either online through PADI eLearning® or in a traditional classroom. This covers all the important safety information and dive knowledge.
2. Practice in a Pool:
Next, you practice basic scuba skills in a controlled environment like a swimming pool with a certified PADI instructor. This helps you get comfortable using the gear and build confidence.
3. Open Water Dives:
Once ready, you complete four open water dives in a natural environment such as the ocean or a lake. Your instructor guides and supports you throughout these dives to ensure safety and skill development.
4. Get Certified:
After successfully completing the theory, pool sessions, and open water dives, you earn your PADI scuba diving certification, allowing you to dive anywhere in the world up to your training level.
